The AGM took place at the Club at 11am on the 21st June2009

New Committee members are required . anyone interested please contact the Club or an existing committee member.

A new Chairman has been elected.

Mr Ian Mclaren who has been a loyal and long serving member of the Club for a long time and was  a committee member and Club Treasurer has been elected  as the new Club chairman. I am sure all the committee and members will give  him their full  support in what is not always an easy job.

Well done Ian.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank on behalf of the committee and members the resigning Chairman Mr Steve Davidson for the tremendous amount of work and effort he put in to the Club. Thankfully Steve will remain as an active member of the committee.

A great thank you to all the members who now use the web site which up till the 18th May 2010 has had 2,589 hits,

From Saturday the 15th of November there  will be a free members dance draw .The member will be required to write their number on the back of their entry ticket which they will then put in the box provided. The draw will take place that night and the prize will be free entry to the next Saturday night dance for two.

Please note the prize is not transferable .

For the number of the  Members dance draw winner see Events tab above

Hamper Winners click  Events tab above

Well done the lucky winners and a big big  thank you to all of you who supported the draw .

Again this last year the Club lost over £30,000   and for this reason it has  been necessary to design and implement a financial recovery package  as this situation can not be allowed to continue and  would eventually  jeopardize  the whole future of the Club. This will mean changes which may not please everybody. (  whats new,  but a sign of the times I'm afraid )

The Club was  about to  under go major renovation  and re-development works which was expected to start by the end of January 2009 at a cost of £450,000 This date having been pushed back by the developer since September 2008 .However in the light of unfolding circumstances and  a re-think   by the present Committee and because of   the present credit crunch and financial situation  it was decided by the members  at the AGM  meeting  held on the 21st June 2009 to cancel the project.

This cost of the renovations was to be paid for  by the sale of three building plots on the present site  which runs from the top of  Cairn Road and which would have required the demolition of the old Clubhouse, this will now not take place and the old Clubhouse will be re - looked at to see what the options are.

There have been rumours that the Club is doing away with old time, sequence and set dances on a Saturday night . This  is completely untrue. Since  Saturday night is a night for social dancing  for members and their guests,  the bands are being instructed  to mix their evening  programme which will hopefully cater for everybody and  encourage more members to attend the dances, which at times are very poorly attended. (let's see a bit more support and loyalty)

It has necessary to raise the cost of entry to the Saturday night dances form the 1st of November 2008 to £4 for members and £5 for non members. Members will be asked to show their membership cards .

Likewise the cost of entry to the Thursday  afternoon Tea Dances will also increase from the 1st November 2008 to £3 for members and £4 to non members again members should carry their membership cards.

A up to date list of all dances to be held at the Club can be found by clicking on the Dances tab at the top of this page.

For a list of our special  Christmas entertainment click on either the Dances tab or Events tab at the top of this page.

Members should be aware that the  Club does not run itself and requires a lot of effort from those behind the scenes who act on their behalf.worth perhaps remembering. We all have busy lives.

Would all members who have email addresses please give them to the Club as it is our intention to try and keep members up to date and this would save a lot of money on postage. (isn't technology wonderful sometimes)

Any member  or person wishing to make a comment to the Club or on a particular issue can do so by clicking on the Your Comments tab at the top of  the Home page.

The cost of supplies for the bar have increased  ( what hasn't? )  but on the last 3 occasions the committee had  decided to absorb the increase and not to put up  bar prices. However as we have just been informed of a further  increase being applied in  February it will be necessary  to increase bar prices . From when and by how much is not known at the moment, watch this space .

The Club membership fee represents  tremendous value for money,  even more so in today's present economic climate.  The members have access to a fantastic facility which will  get even better once the renovations are completed.

A Club Membership Application form with all relevant information  is now available and  can be accessed  by clicking the contact us tab at the top of this page.

A Committee web page is currently under construction and can be accessed by clicking on the Committee tab at the top of this page. A monthly rota  sheet for  Committee members will shortly be available on this site along with the date of the next meeting .
